i am ME. Statements

i am a facilitator. i am resourceful. i am engaged.

What is one thing that makes you unique as a thought leader?
I place importance on experiential learning.

When and why did you decide to become a teacher?
Because when people are really learning and it’s really going, it is the most exciting thing I know.

What about being a leader today gives you the greatest fulfillment?
Watching small groups getting together and create amazing things. We do have an accelerated way of thinking about learning.

Please share with us a simple connection that can make a long-lasting, powerful impact on a student.
By being thoughtful when interacting with students, we can leave little gems that are really important for them.

What is it about Personalized Learning Pedagogy you believe will have the greatest impact on education as we know it today?
Rediscovery of democracy. When you have that higher level of thinking, you have the ability to have people have voice, engagement and dialogue.

Tell us about a challenging situation that could have resulted in a bad outcome, but because you persisted — and perhaps made tough decisions — the now painful memory serves as a great lesson?
I went around the country helping schools implement their own versions of project based programs. While many schools struggled, the research showed we need to measure more of the whole student.

What one strategy would you suggest teachers in personalized learning environments apply everyday that would result in powerful outcomes?
Discover the different kinds of personality types and learning styles of each student, and honor them.

Imagine you are standing in front of a room full of educators just starting their careers. What are two to three key things they should focus on to ensure success?
Come back to the importance of knowing yourself by being brave, bold, and tenacious. Use your voice to demonstrate your will.

i am ME.

Can you share one thing that makes you GREAT?
I understand my vulnerabilities and own them, to use in a way that is helpful.
