Epiphany Learning provides services to educational institutions to improve student learning outcomes. Through the provision of these services, Epiphany Learning collects personally identifiable information from or about students ("Student Data"). We consider such Student Data to be strictly confidential and in general do not use such data for any purpose other than improving and providing our services to the school or on the school's behalf. Our collection, use and sharing of Student Data is governed by our contracts with the educational institutions, in the U.S. by the provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and applicable state laws, and by other state, federal, and international laws as applicable, but not by the provisions contained in this Privacy Policy. If you have any questions about reviewing, modifying, or deleting personal information of a student, please contact your educational institution directly.
The personal information collected for student accounts includes first name, last name, email address, student ID number, username, grade level and guardian email address. This information is obtained by Epiphany Learning through institution (such as school, school district or other educational organization) representatives or the institution's Student Information System (SIS).
Epiphany Learning may only keep a student's personal information for as long as his or her student account is active, unless we are required by law to retain it, need it to ensure the security of our community or our service, or to enforce our Terms and Conditions or as required by the terms outlined in agreements with each educational institution.
Data Protection
Epiphany Learning accounts are protected by a password. Users can help us protect against unauthorized access to accounts by keeping passwords secret at all times. The security of personal information is important to us. We work hard to protect our community, and we maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect against unauthorized use, disclosure of or access to personal information.
Epiphany Learning ensures that our staff is trained and systems are in place to provide required security and maintain confidentiality of student data. We will also work with the affected institution to provide information and assistance necessary to comply with any notification to parents, legal guardians or students, as required under applicable law.
Student Content
Epiphany Learning aims to provide students with easy access to any of their created content stored in the application. If that content contains errors, we provide easy ways to update it, or to delete it, unless we have to keep that information for legitimate business (e.g., we need at least an email address for an account) or legal purposes. Epiphany Learning also provides students or parents, if the student meets the criteria of dependency as defined in Section 152 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, with means to transfer data to a personal account. A student or parent of a dependent who wishes to permit another person to inspect or receive copies of their created content must provide written consent that specifies the content to be disclosed, the purpose of the disclosure and identify the person or parties to whom the disclosure can be made.
